The Ministry of Internal Affairs is expected to begin an administrative inquiry into allegations that Bomi County Administrative Officer, Alphonso M. Sherman, without any authorization is selling equipment and machineries worth over US$2 million.

The equipment and machineries situated in Sakie Town, Bomi County, is owned by Hans Armstrong, a British national and investor, according to a judgment of the Criminal Court ‘C’ in Montserrado County, where the case was transferred from the 11th Judicial Circuit Court, Bomi County.

The request for the investigation stems from a communication, dated October 9, 2025 and signed by Attorney Moiwulo Blama of the Liberia Law Group, a law firm.

According to the letter, Sherman, with criminal mind,  has issued letter notifying all of the scrap dealers about his intention to sell client’s earth-moving equipment.

“Our Client further intimated to us that, in order for Mr. Sherman to implement his illegal sales or intent, he has already started to cut our client’s equipment and/or machineries into scraps,” the communication added.

The law firm further claimed that Sherman is knowledgeable or aware that their client instituted a criminal action against one Reginald Holder and Jehu Richards for the same equipment and/or machineries, and they were indicted by the Grand Jury for the 11″ Judicial Circuit Court, Tubmanburg, Bomi County.

Accordingly, the letter said, after a lengthy trial, the case was further transferred to the First Judicial Circuit, Criminal Assize “C”, Montserrado County, Republic of Liberia, and after a prolonged trial, the case was concluded and final judgment was entered in favor of their client.

“Premised on this letter, and the reason stated above, we most respectfully request that you immediately intervene by putting stop to the illegal act carried out by the County Administrative Officer in person of Mr. Alphonso M. Sherman,  and or cite both our Client and the said County Administrative Officer to a conference in order to further probe or investigate the allegations levied against Mr. Sherman by our client, in order to avoid potential conflict that might ensue as a result of the ongoing illegal actions.”
