President Joseph N. Boakai has described a fallen member of the Board of the Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (RREA), Amadou Yaya Sow, as a frontline fighter for the cause of a better nation who stood as a progressive scholar and a leading voice within the Fula community.
The President said Sow was not only a dedicated public servant but also a cherished comrade and an ardent supporter of their shared vision for Liberia. “He stood as a progressive scholar and a leading voice within the Fula community, where his interventions were always guided by a deep commitment to progress and unity. He was, unequivocally, a frontline fighter for the cause of a better nation,” President Boakai noted.
On behalf of his family, the government, and the people of Liberia, President Boakai extended deepest sympathies to Yaya Sow’s family, his friends, and the entire Fula community. “This is a significant loss for our nation. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in perfect peace,” the President added.
At the funeral rites, President Boakai was represented by the Vice President, Jeremiah K. Koung, whom he had instructed to represent the Presidency and the people of Liberia.
Sow’s saddened death occurred on Saturday night, October 11, 2025. According to family sources, he fell off at his residence on Benson Street, and was rushed to a hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
