The Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) is leading a delegation of Liberian youth Olympic teams to Luanda, Angola, to participate in the 4th African Youth Olympic Games. The delegation left Liberia during the early hours of Monday, December 8, 2025.
According to the Chef de Mission, Boie Corvah, Team Liberia will join 53 African countries to participate in the games from December 10—20, 2025.
The competing teams from Liberia are athletics, table tennis, lawn tennis, taekwondo, and weightlifting.
The 4th African Youth Games (AYG) are scheduled for December 10–20, 2025, in Luanda, Angola, featuring young athletes (ages 14—17) from across Africa competing in numerous sports, serving as a crucial step for talent development and qualification for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
Organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), these games promote African unity, showcase youth talent in various disciplines like athletics, basketball, boxing, and swimming, and highlight Angola’s sporting infrastructure.
In a related development, the President of the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC), Cllr. Sylvester Rennie, has disclosed that he, along with the LNOC Secretary General, Samuel Ahmed Tukpah, will participate in two separate ANOCA forums while in Angola: the ANOCA Forum on Sustainability and the Environment, which will be held on December 12, 2025, and the ANOCA General Assembly, to be held on December 16, 2025.
According to President Rennie, the forums will be held on the sidelines of the African Youth Games, as a way to optimize the organization and ensure increased participation of African Olympic leaders.
The LNOC has meanwhile praised the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the support extended to facilitate Liberia’s participation in the up-coming youth games.
