The Minister of Information, Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, has disclosed that Liberia’s first Post-War Infrastructure Conference is set to open on Monday, January 19, 2026, in Ganta, Nimba County.
According to Minister Piah, the conference will provide a high-level platform for a comprehensive review of the nation’s infrastructure development, taking stock of past initiatives while shaping a forward-looking strategy for key sectors including roads, airports, seaports, and energy.
Speaking at the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Minister Piah announced that the five-day conference, which runs from January 19 to 23, will bring together fifteen international delegates, with Ghana’s Minister of Works serving as the keynote speaker.
Minister Piah also disclosed that, following extensive data collection and rigorous assessment of the technical, environmental, economic, and financial feasibility of the proposed 90-kilometer Brewerville–Bopolu Road Corridor, the Ministry of Public Works has formally received and accepted the feasibility study and design drawings prepared by ILSHIN E&C of the Republic of Korea.
The study was fully funded by the International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK).
According to the Minister, the next phase of the Monrovia–Bopolu corridor project will focus on mobilizing the required resources to commence construction, with the project’s estimated cost currently placed at approximately US$134 million.
