The Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) on Saturday, January 17, 2025 held its 2025 annual general assembly at the Rose Garden Plaza, Crown Hill, Broad Street, with presidents of sporting federations, former and current elected LNOC members, members of the Athlete Commission of Liberia, and representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports gracing the occasion.

The assembly was held under theme, “Keeping the Olympic Spirit Alive”, and presided over by the President of the LNOC, Cllr. D. Sylvester Rennie.

The LNOC’s general assembly is the highest decision-making body of the institution, and is held annually by its general membership to deliberate on issues affecting the LNOC.

At the beginning of the assembly, a roll call was made by the Acting Secretary General, Samuel Ahmed Tukpah, ensuring that the sitting constitutes a quorum, which is required for deliberation. The Vice President for Women Affairs, D. Sheba Browne, welcomed the delegates to the annual general assembly of the LNOC, and called for integrity and the advancement of sports in the country.

President Rennie then appointed a three-man team of rapporteur, headed by the Assistant Secretary General, Saah Roberts, to jot down the minutes of the deliberations.

He then delivered a comprehensive report of his first year in office, covering January 2025—January 2026, and appointed the Acting Secretary General, Samuel Tukpah, to serve as Secretary General-proper, replacing deceased Frederick J.A. Pratt, who passed away sometime last year. He also appointed Kouty Mawehn as Vice President for Technical Affairs.

The Treasurer, Boie F.L. Corvah, also delivered the institution’s financial report for the year 2025, and presented the 2026 budget to the assembly for adoption.

Before the close of the assembly, delegates at the LNOC general assembly resolved that President Rennie’s report be accepted and form part of the record of the organization, and that the Treasurer’s report and the 2026 proposed budget be accepted and form part of the LNOC’s records.

The general assembly also endorsed the appointments of Tukpah as Secretary General and Mawehn as Vice President for Technical Affairs, respectively.
