The Minister of Information, Jerolimek M. Piah, has announced the arrival of the second batch of vehicles under a contractual agreement with ABK Motors Incorporated. This new addition consists of 20 fully air-conditioned, 18-seater mini-buses, marking a significant step in the expansion of the country’s mass transit network.

Speaking during the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing on Tuesday, January 20, 2025, Minister Piah said these mini-buses are part of a broader procurement plan that will bring 60 new vehicles to the country, with the first batch of 35, 62-seater mass transit buses already operational.

According to him, the arrival of these 20 mini-buses will specifically improve transportation access for citizens in remote communities, particularly those located along feeder roads.

The mini-buses are designed to provide a more reliable and efficient means of transport in these underserved areas, while also offering an alternative to the current charter services provided by NTA.

He said in addition to these 55 new passenger buses, the NTA is also anticipating the delivery of five cargo trucks. These trucks are intended to enhance the transportation of goods and materials across Liberia, further supporting the country’s logistical needs.

The acquisition of these 60 vehicles, which includes 35 mass transit buses, 20 mini-buses, and 5 cargo trucks, underscores the Government of Liberia’s commitment to improving the transportation infrastructure for both citizens and foreign nationals.

The NTA said they remain dedicated to providing affordable, reliable, and efficient transportation services to meet the growing needs of the country.

Meanwhile, the minister further explained about development on-going at the Ministry of Information.

Minister Piah said the ministry will provide buses for employees to get home safely, and also the culture department, along with tourism, will have their own bus.
