The Department of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Liberia (UL) will this Friday hold a day-long strategic management seminar bringing together managers of radio stations, newspaper publishers and managing editors in and around Monrovia on the UL Capitol Hill campus.

The UL Communication Department, which is under the Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities, is organizing this seminar as part of its efforts to contribute to Liberia’s media development and leadership.

At the seminar, the media managers will hold extensive discussions on various topics concerning media development and sustainability. They include Pillars of Strategic Management, Leading Leaders: Navigating the Team & the Tasks for institutional Goal, Income Diversification (Grant Seeking, Innovation & Networking, and Media Business versus Media Ethics.

Friday’s seminar comes in the wake of the growing undercapitalization of Liberia’s news media industry and limited compensation for practicing journalists and media workers.

At the end, the strategic media management seminar hopes to carve out a way forward to improve the country’s media business environment and uphold Journalistic ethics, in the wake of the rise in the social media.
