Assistant Internal Affairs Minister, Mike Jabateh, says he has been threatened with attack—if he went ahead to distribute large consignment of food aid to residents of Saye Town, affected by the recent demolition of properties in that community.

The Minister disclosed that the threat was contained in a social media post by a group of disgruntle elements posing as CDCians residing in the area.

He maintained that the posters accused him of leading a government mission in the community to appease residents following a devastation masterminded by the Boakai administration, a claim the minister has denied

Addressing a press conference in Monrovia on Tuesday, Minister Mike Jabateh insisted that his relief activities is a voluntary service to mankind, with no direct link with the Government of Liberia (GOL).

The minister said the program has been providing assistance to the needy—long before his appointment as minister by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai—and will continue to do so.

He however pointed out that his relief agency is planning to distribute the food items in Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, and other counties in need of urgent humanitarian assistance to avoid confrontation with those opposed to his goodwill gesture.
