The Liberia National Police (LNP) has launched an investigation after its Margibi County Detachment discovered a black plastic bag containing human skeletal remains at Division-15, Firestone, Lower Margibi County, following a report received on February 21, 2026.
According to the LNP, upon arrival, officers observed scattered skeletal remains and several items of clothing, with the scene being contaminated by a large crowd prior to police arrival.
Family members present at the scene identified the remains as Geraldine Joseph, who was reported missing in October 2025.
The LNP disclosed that a fifteen-member jury was constituted and confirmed the remains were human bones. Subsequently, the remains was turned over for preservation as part of the on-going investigation.
The Liberia National Police has assured the public that the matter remains under active investigation, and persons of interest will be invited for questioning.
