The Executive Director of the Liberia Dujar Association, Dennis Toe, has challenged the leaders of the Student Council Government of the Lombardia International School System (LISS) to maintain effective leadership.

Director Toe stated that the impact of effective leadership is critical to transforming the growth and development of their school.

The Dujar boss made the statement over the weekend when the leadership of the Student Council Government of LISS was inducted into office for academic year 2025/2026. The occasion was held at the school’s campus in Grassfield community, Gardnersville, outskirts of Monrovia.

According to him, leaders should have vision to lead, as without vision an institution would be like a ship without compass. He told the leaders of the student council government of LISS to be determined to enhance and provide good leadership to their fellow students and the school’s administrators.

He urged that the President of the student council government be clear in terms of the goals they set for the semester, which should be specific and measurable in order for all the students to participate to achieve them.

Director Toe emphasized that leaders should serve with empathy, listen to others’ voices within the school, and sometimes seek the best ideas from students who do not speak.

He asserted that, to provide effective leadership, the student president should seek to understand the challenges facing other students to help address them, observing that students may face academic stress or feel being left out of the school’s activities.

He emphasized the need for accountability and transparency of the leadership, which he noted is vital to their character and integrity within the school and the larger society.

“An unknown person is quoted as saying, ‘People with good intentions make promises, people with good character keep them,’” he added.

Director Toe cited that in dispensing their duties, they should admit to their mistakes and their fellow students will respect their leadership for being honest to them.

According to him, the student council government leadership is preparation for leadership in the larger society, which is Liberia.

He pointed out that, as they think Lombaradia, they should also think about Liberia, and despite being born in a corrupt society they should know that corruption is not born in them.

Director Toe said although they were born in a lying and killing society, they should change the narrative and help to transform the Liberian society in the near future.

Meanwhile, the President of the Student Council of Government of LISS, Denise Seeboe, promised to work  along with the students and the administration of the school to improve the learning environment.

Student Seeboe stated that academic excellence will be prioritized and discipline will be the hallmark to enhance standardization at the school.
