Sinoe County Senator, Augustine Chea, is continuing his development drive in the county with groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of new facilities in the county’s electoral district #3.

The district is among the worst hit by growing poverty as a result of neglect by the government and poor performance of its past leadership.

The intervention stands to benefits four remote and under developed urban cities: Tarjiwon, Pelekon, Togbaville, and Konmana.

According to report from citizens contacted in the county, the groundbreaking which took place early this month is intended to construct an administrative building in Pelekon, a youth center in Tarjuwon, and two guest houses, one in Togbaville and the other in Konmana Town.

The initiative is the latest of its kind to be sponsored entirely by the senator since his overwhelming victory in November 2018’s by-election to find a replacement for his predecessor and veteran lawyer, Cllr. Joseph Nagbe.

Sinoe has always been a forgotten region by the government and the county own elected officials since its creation in 1838 by an act of the Legislature.

The citizens prayed for decade asking God to bless the county with a leadership that will resurrect them from poverty and the prolonged sufferings associated with their region.

The few medical and educational facilities the county can boast of was, until recently, centered around the capital Greenville, while the rest of Sinoe survives without roads, hospital and quality educational facilities.

Immediately following his induction into office in January 2019, Chea launched a massive assessment exercise to determine the needs of the people, before embarking on a plan to rebuild the broken region.

Education being a major priority of his administration, the Senator began by generously offering scholarships to deserving Sinoe student to enter institutions of higher learning, hoping that these students would return with skills that will help in the county’s reconstruction program.

The senator also helped in the implementation of meaningful projects, including the construction of schools in the rural parts of Sinoe and provision of learning materials, laying the foundation for the county’s gradual development.

The latest development initiative is a continuation of what the senator planned to do for the people of Sinoe County before the end of his tenure in 2029.

James Archie Dugbeh, Executive Secretary in the office of Senator Chea, told the Hot Pepper recently in confidence how Sinoans are overwhelmingly happy about the way Chea is moving ahead with the reconstruction agenda of their county.

He said statements of commendation and appreciation for the new projects are coming from all segments of the society via Facebook and others.

Senator Augustine Chea, for his part, seems not to be in a hurry to tell the world about the progress and achievements of his administration. “The people will see it for themselves,” he often replies to reporters’ inquiries.
