Commissioned Peace Ambassador, social justice activist, Ambassador Moses N. Buwee, has called on Liberians to embrace unity, peace, and reconciliation as essential pillars for national development and sustainable nation-building.

Speaking in observance of Unification Day, Ambassador Buwee said unity remains the hallmark of nation-building, and urged citizens across the country to work together in strengthening peace and social cohesion.

According to him, Liberia’s progress can only be achieved if citizens put aside tribalism, hatred, and division and focus on promoting collective national interests. He noted that despite the country’s diverse cultural and political backgrounds, Liberians share one common identity and destiny.

“Unity is the foundation upon which strong nations are built. As Liberians, we must continue to promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and national reconciliation for the growth and stability of our country,” Ambassador Buwee stated.

The Peace Ambassador emphasized that young people have a significant role to play in fostering peace and advancing development across Liberia. He encouraged youth to become ambassadors of peace within their communities by rejecting violence and promoting dialogue and tolerance.

Reflecting on Liberia’s history, Ambassador Buwee noted that the country has overcome years of conflict through resilience and collective efforts toward peacebuilding. He urged citizens not to allow political, tribal, or social differences to undermine national unity.

He further called on leaders, civil society organizations, religious institutions, and community stakeholders to continue creating platforms that encourage inclusion, civic participation, and peaceful engagement among citizens.

“As we celebrate Unification Day, let us renew our commitment to building a Liberia where every citizen feels included and valued. Peace and unity are everybody’s responsibility,” he added.

Liberia celebrates Unification Day annually on May 14 to promote national integration and unity among all Liberians. The observance was established to encourage social harmony and reduce divisions within the country.

Ambassador Moses Buwee continues to play an active role in youth empowerment, peace-building and other national and international initiatives.
