Cheers, applauses, and proud smiles filled the campus of Philadelphia School in Dweken, Grand Kru County, as dozens of kindergartens and sixth-grade students celebrated a milestone that many described as the first step toward a brighter future.

The colorful graduation ceremony brought together parents, teachers, community members, and well-wishers to honor the achievements of the Class of 2025–2026. But beyond the songs, certificates, and celebration, one message echoed throughout the event: education is the key to transforming Grand Kru County and Liberia.

Delivering the keynote address, former Grand Kru County’s district #2 Representative-Aspirant, Edwin Kidjlay, congratulated the graduates on their academic success, and challenged them to see the day’s celebration not as the end of a journey, but as the beginning of a lifelong pursuit of knowledge.

“You are the future of Grand Kru and Liberia,” Kidjlay told the graduates. “Your county and your country are depending on you. Work hard, stay disciplined, and never allow anything to stand in the way of your education.”

He urged the young graduates to dream beyond their current circumstances, reminding them that today’s kindergarten and elementary school graduates could become tomorrow’s doctors, teachers, engineers, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and national leaders.

Kidjlay also paid tribute to the parents and guardians whose sacrifices made the students’ achievements possible, describing them as the unsung heroes behind every successful child. He encouraged them to continue supporting their children’s education despite the many economic challenges facing families across the country.

The former district #2 aspirant further praised Philadelphia School Principal, Jeff Woto, and his teaching staff for their commitment to shaping the next generation, saying their dedication to educating young minds would leave a lasting impact on Grand Kru County.

He called on educators throughout the county to remain steadfast in their mission of nurturing future leaders, emphasizing that investing in education is one of the most powerful ways to secure the county’s long-term development.

As graduates proudly received their certificates amid jubilant celebrations, the ceremony ended with renewed hope that the young scholars leaving Philadelphia School would carry with them not only academic accomplishments but also the determination to help build a stronger Grand Kru County and a better Liberia.
