A cross-section of Monrovia-based Buuyao citizens, Nimba County’s electoral district #5, have declared their fullest support to the re-election bid of Representative Samuel G. Kogar. The Nimba County district #5 lawmaker will be seeking his third term come 2023 legislative and presidential elections.
Speaking over the weekend in Peace Island, one of the defeated candidates in Nimba County’s district#5, Joe Tuah, said his own assessment over the years has proved that Representative Kogar’s projects can be counted across the district and, therefore, there is no need to change him when indeed he is working in the interest of the district.
The former district #5 candidate disclosed that the interest of Buuyao remains paramount, so his ambition of representing the people of district #5 was not personal; instead, for the betterment of the people. As such, he said, there is no need to replace Representative Kogar when he is working in the interest of the people. He vowed to stand by Representative Kogar’s re-election bid for 3rd term.
Another prominent son of the district, Emmanuel Dogolea, said the gathering in Peace Island was intended to hear from Representative Kogar himself as to his plan for 2023. With the calls from citizens, Dogolea emphasized that his doubt over Representative Kogar’s third term re-election bid has been settled, and he will join others in supporting him.
Responding to the citizens’ calls, Representative Kogar revealed that his quest to seek a third term is based on repeated calls from citizens of Buuyao asking him to run for a third term. He emphasized that, based on his work in the district, the people have requested him to contest come 2023, a request he said cannot be turned down.
The House’s Chair on Commerce vowed to work in the interest of the people as long as he remains their direct Representative. According to him, representation is for the betterment of the people and, therefore, remained committed in developing the district through electrification, infrastructure and road connectivity. He pointed out that he has begun to put street light in all towns across the district.
