Maria Flomo Arrested For Stealing At Wedding Ceremony
The adage that says, “99 days for rogue but one day for master,” came to light on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the Temple of Justice when a lady, Maria Flomo, who is allegedly in the habit of stealing at several wedding ceremonies and parties in Monrovia, was arrested.
35-year-old Maria Flomo was arrested and sent to jail for collecting handbags, phones and United States dollars on Weazea L. Wongbay’s wedding day on February 1, 2020.
Maria Flomo was arrested and charged with the crime of theft of property, burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and robbery.
According to complainant Weazea L. Wongbay, on Sunday, February 1, 2020 she was getting wedded to her partner. In the process, defendant Flomo went to where they were conducting their wedding and pretended that she was sent by the bridal party to collect their bags. The bags were kept where they had their phones and other valuable items—in the back of the vehicle brought in by one of the bridal parity’s family. Flomo took the items and absconded to unknown destination. Weazea Mongbay added that, after the wedding ceremony, she went to collect her bag, which contained one 18 karats of gold watch, US$200.00, an Itel cell phone valued at US$50.00 and IPhone 8-plus, valued US$1,200, from the vehicle of Comfort Dahn, but her bag could not be found and the person whom her bag was given to could not be found at any point after the wedding. She reported the matter on February 3, 2020 to the police for investigation.
Andrew Anderson told the Liberia National Police (LNP) that on February 2, 2020 he was taking part in his friend’s wedding as bestman at River View, St. Paul Bridge. They booked one room to keep the materials of the bridal party and went for reception at the hall. Defendant Flomo, whom they did not know, entered, took away all their bags, cash, cell phones and other items.
Janet Francisco, another victim, said on Sunday, October 29, 2018, she was called by her husband, Francisco, and told that someone had burglarized her shop and stolen all of her goods, but the person was a female who took the things.
Sentho Kargbo Kaibanja said on February 12, 2018 she went at her aunt’s wedding. While there, defendant Maria Flomo, helping in the program, started fanning the married woman. After the program, when they were at the reception hall, her aunt discovered her phone had gotten missing and the lady, Maria Flomo, could not be found. After a few years they got information that the lady had been arrested by the LNP, and they had come to identify her.
