Rep. Yekeh Kolubah

The motion filed by lawyers of district #10’s Representative, Yekeh Kolubah, to return his car and suppress evidence was yesterday dismayed when the court denied their motion and ordered the case before the court to continue; Victoria G. Wesseh writes.

According to the lawyers, they had informed the court that Representative Kolubah’s car was impounded by the  Liberia National Police (LNP) on June 7, 2019, with the LNP accussing the lawmaker of carrying a firearm (gun) in the vehicle. They noted that they see no reason why the vehicle cannot be returned to Representative Kolubah since they are all aware that the vehicle has nothing to do with the case before the court.

But the state lawyers said the motion to return Representative Kolubah’s vehicle should not be granted but dismissed on ground that once a warrant has been served it cannot be changed.

The prosecution lawyers further said the car is evidence and a fruit of the crime and, therefore, cannot be released.

The Monrovia City Court Judge, Jonah Jallah, in his ruling said the motion filed by the defendant was hereby ordered denied.
