The Organizing Chairman of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), Tapple E. Doe, has released activities leading to the party’s first-ever convention to elect and legitimize all officials of the party from county to national levels, declaring all positions vacant for election.
According to Doe, the convention will be held at the Cassell’s Estate, located in Schiellien Township, Lower Margibi County. He disclosed that the registration of candidates began Wednesday, November 10, 2021 and will end on November 15, 2021, adding that the election of county officials is scheduled for November 12—13, 2021 while the election of national officials is slated for November 27, 2021.

The PLP Organizing Chairman named the vacant positions as standard bearer, national chairman, national vice chair for administration, national vice chair for operation, national vice chair for political affairs, national vice chair for mobilization and recruitment, national vice chair for religious affairs, national vice chair for auxiliary affairs, national vice chair for international affairs, national vice chair for persons with disability, national vice chair for media relations, national vice chair for membership, national vice chair (woman) for gender and social development, national secretary general, national treasurer, national chair for women assembly, national chair for youth assembly, secretary general for youth assembly, secretary general for women assembly, county chairmen/chairpersons, vice chairman for administration (county), etc.
As it relates to the nomination process, he said it will be done during the day of the election in the election hall, and that the PLP Election Committee will use the set requirements to select candidates seeking to contest for various positions within the party.
He added that the election for all positions will take place in the hall of the convention at the Cassell Estate, with qualified delegates and candidates attending the convention provided with ballot papers, as the election will be by secret ballot.
“To ensure fairness, the grounds for rejection of an application should be based on requirements and/or candidate lacking the capacity to present requirements within the timeframe. Appeals from candidate will be held in a reasonable time to allow the Election Committee to finalize the printing and distribution of ballot papers,” the PLP release, signed by Organizing Chairman Doe, noted. Doe intoned that activities of the PLP convention will come to an end on November 29, 2021 with sports events and other festive activities.
