Arts Connection To Uncover Hidden Talents in Liberia
Arts Connection, a Liberian-owned established arts institution aimed at uncovering Liberians with talent in any talented area, is expected to be launched in Liberia soon. Liberians with various hidden talents and those actively in the arts industry are all expected to grace the ceremony, which will be held in December 2021.
Speaking to the Hot Pepper on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the headquarters of Arts Connection in Monrovia, the Executive Director of Arts Connection, D. Peter T. Dolobah, said the organization was established to help Liberians who have talents but cannot afford to market or showcase their talents to the public. He explained that Arts Connection seeks to expose any Liberian with his given talent to the world, which he underscored will promote the image of the country by placing it on the world map.
Being a young Liberian in the arts industry, Dolobah claimed he has discovered that many young Liberians have great talents but lack financial support and, as a result, their talents remain in them forever. He admonished young people in Liberia to take advantage of Arts Connection in showcasing their talents for the betterment of their future.
Arts Connection, according to him, will conduct a talent competition among young people with skills in different areas of art. The talent competitions will consider young people between the ages of 10 and 50 years with hidden talents, and there will be international and local judges to determine the winner of the competition, with packages for first and second place winners.
The Arts Connection Executive Director therefore called on the Liberian government to support the arts industry in order to place the country on world map. As a Liberian, Dolobah emphasized that he has traveled to some European countries and has learned new things pertaining to the arts industry, which he has come to share with his people. Moreover, Dolobah indicated that the Government of Liberia (GOL) cannot employ everyone and, therefore, there is a need to support those with talents in order for them to earn their living through their God-given talents.
A young Liberian music artist, Emmanuel Carto, has embraced the idea of Dolobah establishing Arts Connection in Liberia. Carto, who has joined Arts Connection, is therefore calling on Liberians to take this opportunity very seriously because talent is a career.
Accordingly, Carto disclosed that Liberia is being left behind in the arts industry because of lack of support to people with brilliant talents. He called on the Government of Liberia (GOL) to fully support the relevant entity responsible for art, in order to place the country on the globe through arts.
During the planned talent competition, Carto intoned that people with brilliant talents will be given the opportunity to have their performance witnessed live on Arts Connection’s YouTube page and other social media.
