Donated food and nonfood items

Amidst the COVID-19, the Women Empowerment for Self-Employment has donated one hundred and fifty bags of rice and nonfood items, which include hand-washing buckets and soaps to twenty-five towns in Sinoe County. Some of the towns that benefited from the distribution are Kwitatuzon, Seethun New Town, Seethum Juaryoun, Klowen, Titiyen, Karquepo, Polly’s Town, Kunweah, and among others.

We4self is a local and nongovernmental organization established to promote women economic empowerment. It also provides support for economic empowerment to poor, disadvantaged and marginalized communities in targeted areas. We4self’s mission is to build the capacity of women and youth for self-sufficiency, job creation to effectively respond to their families and the people of Liberia.

Speaking during the distribution, the Executive Director for We4self, Grace Scotland Briamah, asserted that in times of crisis it is important for all nongovernmental and public institutions to pay key attention to those individuals who are unable to provide for their families in the wake of the lockdown.

According to her, if every institution can begin to help other groups and communities with food and nonfood materials to fight the virus she is certain that it will leave the society at the shortest possible time.

Briamah disclosed that L$20 million was used to purchase the items that was distributed in the county.

The Director however encourage the towns and villages that received the materials to use them for the intended purpose. She also applauded Kvinna till Kvinna (KTK) for their continued financial support to the institution.

KTK aims to strengthen woman and women’s rights and organizations in regions affected by conflict. KTK has been supporting Liberian women since 2007.

Some beneficiaries also lauded the We4self for their kind support to humanity. “The support will solve lots of problems we have been facing, especially when it comes to the issue of starvation,” one of the beneficiaries said.
