On Monday, May 12, 2025, at a pre-inaugural press conference of the unveiling of Orange Icon 16—the company’s newly constructed headquarters, Orange Liberia offered members of the public and the media a sneak-peek of glance into the exciting new facility ahead of the main inaugural event slated for Thursday, May 15, 2025.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Orange Liberia, Jean Marius Yao, speaking at the occasion, quoted Eleanor Roosevelt’s famous saying, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” He said the building is the embodiment of a vision—their belief in the future of Liberia. “Today, under the theme, ‘This is Home. The Future is Here,’ we celebrate progress, people, and purpose,” he noted.

He said the vision behind Icon 16 is a fundamental question many have asked: Why build this new headquarters? “My answer is rooted in three powerful reasons: first, Icon16 is a symbol—a bold statement that Liberia deserves and can host infrastructure of the highest international standards; second, Orange Icon16 reflects our unwavering commitment to being a long-term partner in Liberia’s development. It is fully aligned with Orange Liberia’s vision and with Orange Group’s ambition across Africa to lead in digital transformation, promote sustainable innovation, and ensure inclusive growth that leaves no one behind; and third, we continue to invest heavily in our network platforms, and infrastructure at Orange Liberia, we know that people are the true drivers of progress. Our employees and our customers are our greatest assets.”

According to him, Orange Icon16 is a source of national pride—a place that says to every Liberian: “Yes, it’s possible”.

Speaking during a press conference held at the headquarters in Sinkor on Monday, May 12, 2025, CEO Yao averred that Orange Icon16 was created as a world-class hub for collaboration, innovation, and growth. “It is a space designed to uplift the well-being of our teams our value creators and to deliver extraordinary experiences for our customers
and it goes beyond connectivity. With the largest, most accessible Smart Store in the country, Icon16 is the embodiment of our customer-obsessed culture,” he observed.

He said, “Orange Liberia don’t just offer services but also deliver experiences and space for Innovation and People now, let me share what makes Icon16 not just impressive, but purposeful. Every inch of this space has been designed with intention: collaborative workshop platforms and 5 digital meeting rooms; Liberia’s largest Smart Store;a state-of-the-art boardroom and innovation showroom;a 170-seat auditorium, medical clinic, and cantina;a wellness gym and rooftop terrace with panoramic views of Monrovia and the Atlantic Ocean—all covered by 1400 m2 of glass. This is an eco-conscious facility, soon to be solar-powered, with LED lighting, accessibility features, and a design rooted in inclusion and sustainability.”

The Strategic Impact: What Icon16 Enables

According to CEO Yao, “By bringing our 400 employees under one roof, Icon16 becomes more than just a workplace it is a catalyst. It fosters deeper collaboration, enhances internal synergy, and allows us to serve our customers more efficiently and effectively. This new environment is designed to spark innovation and accelerate Liberia’s digital transformation.

“Our role in Liberia extends far beyond these walls Orange Liberia is among the Top 3 taxpayers in the country, with $291 million paid in taxes and fee; a strategic investor, with over $250 million committed to infrastructure like our fiber backbone and Buchanan Data Center; a driver of inclusion, through Orange Money and Orange Energies; and a proud recipient of Ookla awards for best network, fastest speeds, and widest coverage.
We are proud to play a role in national development — supporting jobs, powering progress, and connecting people in every county.

“We are also proud to bring social inclusion and give back to the communities though our Orange Liberia Foundation, that support health, digital education for free and culture.”

A Journey of Transformation

To appreciate this moment, Orange CEO reflected on how far they have come. “From our beginnings as Cellcom, to our transformation into Orange — from Bypass to 13th Street, and now to Icon16 each step has marked a new chapter in our story.

Icon16 is not just our new headquarters. It is the symbol of our evolution, and the foundation of what we aim to achieve in the years ahead.”

He said, “In the next six years, we will invest an additional $200 million to expand and modernize our network,
we believe in Liberia. We believe in its youth, its entrepreneurs, its future. Let us grow together. Let us build the future together.”

At the same time, Orange Liberia HR, John Stewart, said a space designed not just to house our operations, but to inspire excellence, foster collaboration, and propel our vision – to be the preferred Liberian multi-service operator and partner of choice for digital, financial, energy and social inclusion while respecting ethics and the environment.

He said Viewing the headquarter through the lens of those responsible for our prime asset – People, this building is more than just a physical structure. “It is a symbol of our shared aspirations, a tangible representation of our growth, and a testament to the relentless dedication of every member of Orange Liberia and Orange Money Liberia family,” Stewart noted.

“In the next few minutes and in the days to come, you will realize how our new headquarters is designed for those who believe in a digitally responsible world – a space where employees can thrive, innovate, and continue the exceptional work that has brought us to this moment.

“Rest assured; we envision a future where this space will not only enhance productivity but will also foster the culture of excellence that defines us. We are about to see that our journey is far from complete. Orange is here and this building is yet another step forward as we work collectively to bring our vision to life,” HR Stewart added.

“The grand inauguration is still to come. Today, we are here to share our story with you—to let the world know that Orange Liberia is moving forward, stronger than ever, and ready to touch the future,” he stated.
