The Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) has activated its 1st Armored Reconnaissance Battalion and the AFL Signal Company during a ceremony held at the Barclay Training Center in Monrovia. According to an AFL statement, this event marks a crucial step in enhancing the operational capabilities of the AFL, particularly in reconnaissance and communication roles, which are vital for modern military operations.

The activation aims to improve the readiness and effectiveness of the Armed Force of Liberia and to ensure they can respond more efficiently to national security challenges.

The establishment of these units reflects an on-going effort by the AFL and partners to strengthen the military’s infrastructure and training programs.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister for Administration, Dr. Augustine Larmin, the Chief of Staff of the AFL, Major General Davidson Forleh, and high-ranking officers of the Armed Force of Liberia (AFL).

Remarking at the ceremony, the Deputy Minister for Administration, Dr. Larmin, emphasized the importance of these new battalions in maintaining peace and security within Liberia. The AFL, according to him, has been undergoing various reforms aimed at professionalizing its ranks and increasing its capacity to operate, and that the activation is part of a broader initiative supported by the Government of Liberia (GOL) aimed to bolster Liberia’s defense capabilities.
