ALHRP Inducts First Leadership; Launches Five-Year Strategic Plan

The Association of Liberia Human Resource Professionals (ALHRP), the umbrella group for human resource personnel in Liberia, has inducted its first group of leaders who will steer the affairs of the ALHRP for a period of five consecutive years.

   The Association of Liberia Human Resource Professionals (ALHRP) was established in 2013 by its founding fathers, Jonah Soe Kotee, Stanley Ford and Faith B. Morris, with the aim that HR in Liberia remains clerical, backbench, relegated, invisible, and undervalued, instead of strategic and indispensable.

   From its fragile beginning, today the organization has grown up to 300 members, of which 150 are registered members. Some human resource professionals see the group’s membership as a clear sign of resilience, determination, and relevance.

   Since its establishment in 2013, the group has conducted over 50 trainings for HR professionals across Liberia in the private and public sectors.

   Members of the Association of Liberia Human Resource Professionals (ALHRP) have benefited from international scholarships, as well as signed a landmark MOU with Liberia Institute of Public Administration in support of delivery of international HR certifications in the country.

   During the period under review, the Association of Liberia Human Resource Professionals provided lots of services for the government and people of Liberia.

   The ALHRP is also a member to the African Human Resource Confederation, the umbrella group for all HR bodies on the African continent.

   For his part, the first President of the ALHRP, Jonah Soe Kotee, reaffirmed the group’s commitment in upholding the integrity of HR in Liberia. According to him, their work rests on partnership, advocacy, and collaboration in their service delivery.

   ALHRP President noted that phase one of the group’s five-year strategic plan includes professional regulation and governance, code of ethics, outsourcing, harmonization, capacity and professional development, academia, labor data and system, and classification of jobs for Liberians, while phase two also covered consolidation and global benchmarking, policy alignment and advisory, labor market intelligence, private sector competitiveness, among others.

   He pledged the ALHRP involvement in helping Liberia get better through capacity development. The group’s President stated that HR is not simply a profession but it serves as nation-building work for every society, with Liberia no exception.

   He underscored the need for unity among HRs, because with togetherness leadership legacy can be shown.

   Those inducted as officials are Jonah Soe Kotee, President, Roosevelt Richards, Vice President for Training and Professional Development, Sandra Ajong, Vice President for International Affairs, Grace Martin Nyanway, Vice President for Governance and Legal Affairs, D. Dempster Zawolo, Vice President for Finance and Administration, Alex Jeff Raynes, Vice President for Membership, Marketing and Communication, and Arthur N. Gbotoe, Vice President for Grievance and Ethics. The inducted leadership runs from 2025—2030.

   The induction of the Association of Liberia Human Resource Professionals was held over the weekend at the Lutheran Hall on 13th Street, Monrovia.

   There were representatives from both public and private sector cooperations in Liberia, who expressed their institutions’ willingness to uphold the goal and image of their mother organization in Liberia.

   A proxy from the Ministry of Labor represented the Minister of Labor, honorable Cooper W. Kruah, Sr., as the ceremony’s guest speaker.

    The ALHRP induction ceremony was well attended by members of the association and guests as well.
