The Independent Ad-Hoc Elections Commission (IEC) of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) has officially declared all elected positions within the institution vacant, after reviewing the term of reference of the IEC, the constitution and the draft guidelines of the election.

In line with FLY’s constitution, once every three years, the General Assembly elects a President, Vice President for National Affairs, Vice President for International Affairs and three Regional Coordinators to serve a three-year term.

In a release issued over the weekend, the ad-hoc FLY-IEC said, “In fulfillment of the constitutional provision, the Commission is clothed with the authority to conduct elections for the Executive Council through well-developed electoral procedures and guidelines; to uphold and ensure all requirements are met as provided for by the constitution of the Federation and shall also have the authority to disqualify any applicant, nominee or aspirant who will not meet the full stipulated requirements after the vetting process.

“Toward this end, the Commission wishes to inform the public that guidelines leading to the conduct of the General Assembly and the elections are ready and will be published shortly.”

According to the release, “All concerns and issues relating to the conduct of the elections will be received by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Anthony F. Williams, the Secretary General of the Commission, Mr. Siaffa Bahn Kemokai, II, or the President of FLY, H.E. Mr.  Amos Williams.

“Finally, the Commission is fully committed to conducting free, fair, peaceful, and transparent elections. We, therefore, encourage full participation and support from member organizations and stakeholders of the Federation of Liberian Youth.”
