The National Chairman of the former ruling Unity Party has underscored the need for education to be prioritized in Liberia if the country is to move forward.
Chairman Amin Modad stated that no nation can develop if the people are not educated to move the national agenda, for its growth and development.
Chairman Modad made the assertion Saturday when he served as guest speaker at the first graduation exercise of the Juah Sarwee Memorial Wellance Institute, New Kru Town, Bushrod Island, outskirts of Monrovia.
According to him, without education it is impossible for any major development drive to be implemented. He noted that if some Liberians believe that education is not important for national leadership they should think again and notice the current status of Liberia.
Chairman Modad emphasized that education is the basis for any sound leadership in all sectors of government, and it should not be taken for granted.
He urged graduates to pursue higher education in order to prepare for the challenges ahead, noting that Liberia is faced with serious economic problems.
He said graduates should not limit their potential of excelling due to the environment and situation in the country.
Chairman Modad emphasized that Liberian youth should be determined to transform the status of their lives through prioritizing education, which is key to success.
He noted that more than 15 students who represented the school at its first West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) were successful.
