ArcelorMittal Liberia has launched a renovation project for the Neekreen Town Hall in Neekreen Statutory District, Grand Bassa County. It is part of its continued effort to support development in communities impacted by its operations. The project, which began Thursday of last week, will upgrade this central community facility, bringing essential enhancements to the space.
The renovation plan includes replacing the building’s roof and ceiling, adding new zinc panels, laying tile flooring, and installing a water system to provide a reliable source of water.
A power generator will also be installed to ensure an uninterrupted power supply. The town hall will be fully furnished to serve as a space for various community events and gatherings.
The renovation contract has been awarded to Buchanan Service, a locally owned company headed by Enoch Giah, who said this further reflects ArcelorMittal Liberia’s commitment to involving local businesses and promoting economic growth in Grand Bassa County.
Since coming to Liberia, ArcelorMittal has invested heavily in local infrastructure and education. The company has channeled resources toward building and renovating schools, offering scholarships, and providing essential support to students and teachers in areas where it operates.
AML’s effort has included constructing classrooms, supplying learning materials, and establishing playgrounds in communities across Nimba, Bong and Grand Bassa counties.
ArcelorMittal Liberia has also implemented educational programs aimed at improving learning standards in these regions and creating educational opportunities where they are often limited.
This investment is said to be making a lasting impact on the lives of many students and their families.
The renovation of Neekreen Town Hall is more than an infrastructure upgrade; it serves as a valuable resource for the community. As the main venue for town meetings, local gatherings, and official events, the improved facility will be a vital space for civic engagement and community activities. The addition of clean water, power, and updated furnishings will make it more accessible and functional for the people of Neekreen.
Furthermore, by its decision to hire a local Bassa based contractor, ArcelorMittal Liberia is supporting economic activity and job creation within Grand Bassa County. This the company believes shows its commitment to the sustainable development of its host communities.
The Neekreen Town Hall renovation represents a meaningful contribution to local empowerment, and it offers a space for residents to come together, participate in local decision-making, and strengthen their community bonds.
