Boakai Quits Campaign Tour Again For Another Impromptu Trip!

The Rescue Mission Campaign Team of the Unity Party (UP) has announced that their Standard Bearer, Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai, will halt his current trip to Grand Cape Mount and Gbarpolu counties and leave some senior executive members of the Rescue Team in charge until he returns from another impromptu trip.

Boakai, according to a Unity Party press release, is expected to be accompanied by Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence MacDella Cooper for a two-day trip in the sub-region on today, September 13, 2023.

While away, Senator Jeremiah Kpan Koung, assisted by National Campaign Manager, Senator Prince K. Moye, and Senator Abraham Darius Dillon will lead the campaign and continue the preparations for the UP official campaign launch on September 17, 2023.

Boakai is expected to return on Friday, September 15, 2023 to commemorate the party’s campaign launch on Sunday.

Information accessed by the Hot Pepper from confidantes of Boakai says that Boakai is headed to Nigeria to seek support for his campaign trail.

However, critics are speculating that Boakai has gone to resuscitate his health condition and to excuse himself from the hectic anomaly of the Gbarpolu trip. They claimed that if Boakai make an attempt to travel upward to Bopolu he may not be fit for the campaign launch, which often requires long hours of standing, talking and walking. As such, to safe him and the party from the cloudy situation, he is being made to depart the country and use the opportunity to seek medical advice, contrary to the claim of lobbying for campaign funds.

It can be recalled that on August 28, 2023 (about two weeks ago) Boakai excused his campaign for an alleged impromptu ECOWAS engagement in Ghana, which critics argued was meant to seek medical check-up.

This brings to three the number of trips Joseph Boakai has made between July 20, 2023 and September 13, 2023.
