The Bukonjadeh Group of Companies says it wants the government to prosecute the former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Amin Modad, for allegedly embezzling the Liberian people money.
According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bukonjadeh Group of Companies, Elton Johns, the prosecution of Amin Modad will serve as a detriment to other government officials who intend to corrupt public funds in the country.
Johns made the statement on Thursday in Monrovia, noting that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai should go beyond Modad’s resignation and prosecute him and others who are linked to alleged corruption in his government. “The Liberian people voted for you meaningly to battle corruption,” he observed.
He said that the Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), James Dorbor Jallah, who once served as the Chairman of the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), knows that purchasing a vehicle worth US$96,000 without passing through PPCC is a violation of the law.
Johns maintained that Jallah cannot be left out of the hook of corruption in the process of purchasing the vehicle for Modad, which was done under MedTech arrangement.
He lamented that it is unfortunate for Liberians to vote for change but continue to experience the same wave of alleged corruption in government. He asserted that President Boakai should ensure that corrupt officials are weeded out of the government and prosecuted.
