The Director General of the Bureau of State Enterprises (BSE), Arthur Siaka Massaquoi Sr., has been honored by the Positive Thinkers of Banjor (POTOBAN), a non-profit organization advocating against bad governance, for his exceptional contributions to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the bureau.
At a special ceremony held over the weekend, Musa Pastore Foboi, Chairman of POTOBAN, presented a certificate of recognition to DG Massaquoi.
Foboi commended the DG for introducing innovative ideas that have strengthened the operation of the BSE, significantly reducing waste and financial leakages within state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
“DG Massaquoi has demonstrated exemplary leadership and vision, ensuring the bureau is not only functional but also impactful in addressing governance challenges. His efforts to improve accountability and transparency within SOEs are commendable,” Foboi remarked.
In his acceptance speech, DG Massaquoi expressed gratitude to POTOBAN for acknowledging the progress achieved at the BSE. He pledged to redouble his effort to ensure the bureau continues to thrive and deliver on its mandate.
“This recognition is not just for me but for the dedicated team at the BSE. It serves as a motivation to do even more for the people of Liberia. We are committed to transforming the BSE into a model of excellence in governance and accountability,” DG Massaquoi stated.
The DG also highlighted a significant milestone achieved under his leadership: the submission of an Act to the Governance Commission to transition the Bureau of State Enterprises from a decree to an Act of the Legislature. This, he noted, would provide the BSE with a stronger legal framework to carry out its statutory mandate effectively.
“The submission of this act is a pivotal step in strengthening the bureau’s authority and ensuring it can meet the demands of modern governance. We are optimistic about the positive impact this will have on the management of state-owned enterprises in Liberia,” he added.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from both POTOBAN and the BSE to collaborate in promoting good governance and fostering accountability across the public sector.
