CDC Designates District #8 Office As Temporary Headquarters

–Notifies NEC

The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has notified the National Election Commission (NEC) about the demolition of its national headquarters, and informed the commission that, while they await the outcome of adjudication of their appeals at the Supreme Court in the dispute, they have designated their electoral district #8 office, located in Saye Town, 3rd Street, Sinkor, as their temporary headquarters.

In a communication addressed to the Chairperson of the NEC, Davidetta Browne Lansana, signed by Chairman Janga Augustus Kowo, the CDC said, “In view of the prevailing situation, we are designating our Electoral District no.8 office, located in Saye Town, 3rd Street, Sinkor, as the temporary headquarters of the CDC while we await the outcome of adjudication of our appeals at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia.”

According to the CDC, the timing of the demolition of its headquarters on the eve of the National Election Commission’s annual inspection of political parties’ headquarters is concerning, as this could be a plot to affect its legal standing as a political party.

The party observed that the demolition is a clear violation of Article 20(a and b) of the 1986 Constitution.
