Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Yin Chengwu, has pledged his commitment to supporting the economic and social development of Liberia.
According to him, the long-standing bilateral relationship that exits between Liberia and China will stand ready in supporting Liberia in every aspect.
Speaking over the weekend at the Seminar on “Deepen Cooperation, Work Together for Development”, organized by the Chinese Embassy, Ambassador Yin Chengwu assured the Chinese government’s readiness to implement the FOCAL-summit outcome, which he said will deepen cooperation between the both nations.
At the same time, Unity Party Chairman, Luther Tarpeh, lauded the Chinese government’s continuous support to the development of Liberia. “We want for China to teach us how to fish, instead of giving us fish,” Chairman Tarpeh said, underscoring China’s enormous support to Liberia’s infrastructure sector.
Chairman Tarpeh, among other things, recommended the need to foster a people-to-people relationship among the two nations, a business mentoring forum in Liberia and invest in training of professionals.
According to him, China should grant scholarships to the young brilliant minds to serve the Liberian developmental agenda.
“We can deepen our cooperation when we work together to promote and protect global peace and advocate for the suppressed, the poor and needy. Without peace in our world, development is hampered drastically, and individual and national dreams are truncated.
“The Liberia and China friendship must promote peace in all regions of the world. Despite our cultural differences, our mutual respect and friendship for each can only make our world a better place and safer for the next generation.”
He emphasized that the Liberia-China Friendship is cardinal for the respective nations. “Our ability to tackle impediments, work together and share knowledge experience and assertive efforts to ensure that peace reigns in every nation of the world, then we can proudly say development for both countries and the world at large will only be a matter of time,” he stated.
For his part, the Co-Chair on Foreign Affairs and Nimba County’s district # 3 Representative, Nehkeh Gaye, described the seminar as a re-enforcement of the Liberia-China relation.
According to him, with the smooth exchange of trade business among the two nations, their cooperation is destined to continue. He said China will always be willing to help improve livelihood of the country.
