A large number of residents of Gbor Administrative District, district #4, Nimba County, recently organized a mass meeting to reaffirm the re-election bid of their incumbent Representative, Gunpue L. Kargon.
Sources close to the lawmaker’s office have confirmed that Reprs Kargon, famously known as “Dubai King” in Nimba County, was taken by surprise over the weekend when citizens from close to 20 towns gathered to recommit themselves to his re-election bid for 2023.
The statement, signed by some of the residents and in the possession of this paper, indicated, “We the citizens of Gbor Administrative District, located in Zoe-geh Statutory District, have gathered here in the district’s political headquarters of Gbor Payee, on this day of August 24, 2021 for the specific purpose of celebrating the holiday and reaffirming our decision taken in 2017 to pledge our unwavering support to one of our kind and son, Hon. Gunpue L. Kargon, Representative of district #4 as the lone candidate for the upcoming 2023 presidential and legislative elections.”
The statement, read by Junior Meaway, believed to be one of the prominent sons of the district, continued, “We are affirming our decision based on several cardinal reasons, to include infrastructure development (building of schools, clinic, bridges, women centers across the district), human capacity building (scholarships and financial aid to students & youth)”, among others.”
The residents expressed joy over the level of the district development and the lawmaker’s continued affiliation with the youth and elders of the district since he became a lawmaker.
Some of the major towns that signed the statement include GborZuoplay, Gborkorsen, GborKpahplay, GborSangarplay, GborFiaplay, GborDehvohn, GborGbahnwin, GborPauee and the entire Lonzian chiefdom.
Meanwhile, Representative Kargon expressed his willingness to work with the elders and youths of the district and recommit himself to the district’s development initiatives.
