Several human resource managers from the public and private sectors have benefited from a one-day training organized by the Civil Service Agency (CSA) in partnership with the Human Resource Professionals Association of Liberia.

The training focused on job termination, civil service standing orders, income tax calculation, social security affairs contribution and benefits, and retirement, among others. It was held at the CSA head office, Ministerial Complex, Congo Town, and meant to build the capacity of the public and private sector human resource professionals in handling HR issues.

The objective of the training was to build the capacity of human resource professionals to become more productive at their area of assignment and to add value to them.

Jonah Kotee, President of the HR Professionals Association of Liberia, told the Hot Pepper that the training was a good step forward, especially with the partnership provided by CSA.

Kotee stated that the Human Resource Professionals Association is a legal HR firm established by local and international HR professionals to address issues confronting the HR profession in Liberia.

Also speaking at the one-day HR training, CSA Director General, James Thompson, thanked the HR Professionals Association of Liberia for providing the needed training to address issues affecting the workings of HRs from the public and private sectors of the country.

He said the CSA has established a training center at the agency to address some of the challenges confronting CSA employees in the country. According to him, the CSA has decided to partner with professional entities to help address the day-to-day challenges faced by CSA employees.

Director Thompson pointed out that the CSA still enjoys the service provided by the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA), but deemed it necessary to add some professional institutions in Liberia to its services.

The CSA boss said the intention of the partnership is meant to create a conducive working environment for civil servants.

There were speakers from the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), National Social Security (NASSCORP) among others, who spoke on HR formalities.
