CSNL Commends Pres. Weah For Judge Gbeisay’s Appointment; Calls On Senate To Swiftly Confirm Him

The Civil Society Network of Liberia (CSNL) has commended the President of the Republic of Liberia, Dr. George Manneh Weah, for the appointment of Judge Yamie Gbeisay as an Associate Justice on the Bench of the Supreme Court, replacing former Associate Justice Sie-A-Nyene Gyapay Yuoh, now Chief Justice of the Republic of Liberia.

The Civil Society Network of Liberia said it does not just see the appointment of Judge Gbeisay as a good decision by the President but one that is in the best interest of the people of Liberia.

“Judge Gbeisay is a man of impeccable character and has made many good judgments as a lawyer and judge. He is respected among his peers and the judicial branch of the Republic of Liberia; as such, the decision to appoint him as an Associate justice of the supreme court was no mistake on the part of the President,” the group said in a press release.

Meanwhile, the CSNL has used the medium to appeal to members of the Liberian Senate to, without delay, confirm Judge Gbeisay if they are truly in the interest of the people they represent.

“The Civil Society Network of Liberia (CSNL) respect and acknowledge the authority of the Liberian Senate to scrutinize those appointed by the President but common reasoning will tell anyone that certain appointees need NO delayed confirmation procedure due to their good records over the time as in the case of Judge Gbeisay.

“We believe in the wisdom of the Liberian Senate and know that the body will not hesitate to speedily conduct the confirmation hearing of Judge Gbeisay and subsequently confirm him as Associate Justice on the bench of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia,” the CSNL release continued.
