Fata Donzo Sirleaf Wins UMU Election; Promises Cordial Student-Administration Relationship

Fata Donzo Sirleaf, the wife of former Deputy Governor for Operation of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), Charles Sirleaf, has won the presidential election of the United Methodist University (UMU) student council government.

The election took place on December 2, 2022 at the main campus of UMU, with Sirleaf winning her opponent, Melekeh W. Gbuapaye, with a wide margin.

Sirleaf’s victory, according to information gathered from UMU students, was predicated upon her developmental tangibles and relationship with the student body.

The newly elected UMU president is a senior student studying accounting and procurement.

Commenting on her victory and what should the university expect from her leadership, Sirleaf noted that her leadership will provide inclusive student leadership and ensure an enhanced environment for writing and defending thesis. She said her leadership will also provide quality souvenirs in different brands, value-added honors and awards program, transparency and accountability, as well as rebrand the Miss UMU beauty pageant and other talents.

She said her team is willing to work with the defeated side in addressing issues confronting the forward march of the United Methodist University (UMU).
