Over the weekend the Monrovia City Hall was a scene of attraction organized by the Shirley Group of Companies: Hundreds of medical practitioners from across the country assembled to receive awards in varied categories organized by the company.
According to Shirley Group of Companies, the award ceremony was meant to show appreciation for individuals who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the health sector. They noted that their award captured medical practitioners who played a pivotal role from the deadly Ebola virus period to present in Liberia.
According to them, since that time the role played by health workers have not been recognized, so they deemed it necessary to organize the Liberia Medical Excellence Award 2024 for key players within the health sector.
Liberia Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Ministry of Health, Diana T Sarteh, was among five medical practitioners from the Liberia Nurses Association (LNA) who received the excellence award for contributions to the health sector.
Liberia’s current Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer has served in several capacities within the health sector. Her award is said to come as no surprise to the health sector, as nurses have commended the organizers for such a worthy program for health workers in Liberia.
“I was working and never thought I would have been selected for such an excellence award today,” Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer Sarteh told the Hot Pepper.
The Liberia Medical Excellence Award ceremony was well attended by actors of the health sector, both private and public. Shirley Group of Companies is said to be the first in Liberia to organize such an award ceremony, one that brought together key actors of the health sector.
