Classes were disrupted and students loitered at Johnsonville Public School due to garbage stockpile and its odious scent.
The school, which is a government institution that should be well protected, has become the public dumpsite of community dwellers.
The campus is littered with garbage, preventing fresh air flow and latrine use by students and teachers.
The huge garbage present on the campus has hindered academic activities, as students and teachers have abandoned classes due to maggots, flies, mosquitos, and bad odor.
Some students who could no longer bear the unfavorable situation protested and were arrested and incarcerated, according to report.
However, the District Education Officer, Johnsonville Township Commissioner, and the school’s authorities took the matter to the Liberia National Police (LNP) for solution.
Students and others alleged that Johnsonville Township’s Commissioner authorized the community residents to dump garbage on the school’s campus.
Meanwhile, the students are calling on the Ministry of Education to fast-track the matter as school has only just resumed. Investigation continues.
