Henry Costa Declares Intention To Contest Montserrado County’s Senatorial Seat

Political Commentator, Henry P. Costa, has officially declared his intention to contest the senatorial seat of Montserrado County in the 2023 general and presidential elections.

“I, Henry P. Costa, on this sixth day of September 2022  officially declare that I will be a candidate in the upcoming 2023 Montserrado County senatorial election, and the seat that Senator Saah H.  Joseph currently occupies shall be mine after 2023,” Spoon FM quoted Costa as saying.

It can be recalled that Costa contested for Montserrado County’s district #6 representative seat in the 2017 general election, but was massively defeated by Rev. Samuel Enders.

However, since 2018, Costa has been unapologetic in opposing the way President George M. Weah has handled the affairs of the nation. He led the popular June 7, 2019 protest, which was widely covered by local and international media, and closely monitored by international organizations.

Since then, many have considered Costa as the face of the opposition, with the talk-show host providing directions for the major opposition bloc.

If Costa, who described himself as the “People Hero”, contests the 2023 senatorial seat of Montserrado County, he is expected to face many others in the race, including the incumbent, Saah Harding Joseph, who is widely regarded as the “Ebola Hero”.
