House Concurs With Senate To Conduct 2022 Census

Members of the House of Representatives have voted to concur with the Liberian Senate authorizing the Executive branch of government to conduct the 2022 National Census.

   The House’s decision followed a report from its Joint Committee on Good Governance, Judiciary and Elections.

   The Joint Committee says realizing the critical importance of the National Census in providing the much needed data for the nation’s national socio-economic and development goals (SDFGS) and the African Union’s Agenda for 2063, as well as improving the knowledge of the social, demographic and economic characteristics of the population of the Republic of Liberia, It is resolved that the Legislature authorize the Executive Branch of the government of the Republic of Liberia to proceed to make the necessary preparations for the conduct of the national census of the Republic of Liberia from October 24 to November 7, 2022.

   Following the Joint Committee’s report, plenary endorsed it and a motion was proffered by Sinoe County’s electoral district #2 Representative, Sampson Q. Wiah, concurring with the Senate on the passage of a joint resolution authorizing the conduct of the census this year.
