“I Will Be On The Ballot”–Joseph Boakai Reacts To Allegation Of Withdrawal

The Standard Bearer of the Unity Party (UP), Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., recently nicknamed “Rescue-1” by his supporters, has reassured the public that, God’s willing, he will be on the ballot, and that there is nothing that can stop the rescue mission he is embarking on.

Over the weekend a screenshot from a page, alleged to be the Facebook page of Ambassador Boakai, alleged that the UP Standard Bearer was withdrawing his bid from the 2023 presidential race. The screenshot reads, “I’ve served the people for over 43 years and understand that it is now time to move in a different direction. Today, I’ve decided to withdraw my bid for the presidency. I believe the way forward is to give chance to somebody who understands how to fix this country. I’ve decided to support Alex Cummings.”

Apparently after claiming the attention of Unity Party authorities and their first partisan, Ambassador Boakai immediately responded to the allegation, saying, “I’ve seen a screenshot of a post circulating on social media from a fake Joseph Nyuma Boakai page that I am not contesting for the presidency in October 2023.

“Let me reassure the Liberians that there’s nothing that will stop the Rescue Mission we are embarking upon. We will be on the ballot, and with God being above, we will succeed in rescuing this our beloved country.”
