Journalists Assemble In Monrovia To Move PUL Forward

In a significant effort to advance the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) objectives, journalists and media practitioners from across Liberia will convene in Monrovia on Friday, January 31, 2025.

This gathering, organized by the Press Union’s leadership, will provide a platform to discuss the PUL’s current status and explore strategies for building a stronger and more effective union. The focus will be on journalists’ welfare and the promotion of ethical journalism.

The meeting will commence at 10:30 a.m. at the PUL headquarters on Clay Street. During the session, the PUL leadership will present findings and recommendations from the Technical Working Group Report on the PUL status, led by James Kpargoi. This report outlines the assets and liabilities inherited from previous PUL administrations and guides addressing the union’s significant financial challenges and leveraging current assets, including land, vehicle, and human capital.

Additionally, the PUL leadership will share an overview of key engagements undertaken since October 2024 and outline a strategic action plan for the union’s operations moving forward.

Members from various affiliated organizations, including the Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL), Association of Liberian Community Radio (ALICOR), Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL), Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL), Publishers Association of Liberia (PAL), Economic Journalists Association (EJA), Foreign Stringers Association of Liberia, and the Editors Forum will be in attendance, along with numerous media NGOs and county-based journalist associations.
