The Resident Circuit Judge of Criminal Court “E”, 1st Judicial Circuit, Montserrado County, Her Honor Ceaineh D. Clinton-Johnson, has been nominated by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia to replace fallen Associate Justice, Joseph Nagbe.
President Boakai made the nomination on Friday, June 21, 2024, with the appointment being subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate.
President Boakai called on the nominee to continue to demonstrate diligence, commitment, integrity, professionalism, and loyalty in her service to country.
Among other portfolios, Judge Clinton-Johnson served as Deputy Minister for Administration and Public Safety, Ministry of Justice, During the first term of former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.
If confirmed, the judge will be one of three female judges sitting on the Supreme Court bench. Before her ascension to the bench, Her Honor Sie-A-Nyene Yuoh had become Chief Justice and Her Honor, Jamesetta Howard Wolokolie, Associate Justice. It is being said that this will be the first time that the full bench of the Supreme Court is predominantly female, even though the Hot Pepper could not ascertain this matter.
