Kalasco Condemns Huge AFL, LNP Presence At RIA During Weah’s Arrival

Sekou Kalasco Damaro, Presidential Aide to former President George Manneh Weah, has condemned and described as scaring and worrying the huge deployment of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) and the Liberia National Police (LNP) at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) on Saturday, July 13, 2024 during the ex-President’s arrival.

Damaro stated that it was wrong for the Boakai administration to deploy huge armed men at the RIA where peaceful, non-violent citizens had gathered to welcome home their former President and Political Leader, noting that the action has the proclivity of causing unnecessary tension in the country.

He accused the Boakai administration of steering the affairs of the state as if they want to return the country to its dark days.

The former Presidential Aide expressed the condemnation on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 when he appeared on the OK FM afternoon show. He said since the Boakai administration took over the leadership of the country they have refused to recognize George Weah as former President of Liberia, evident by the action of denying him the use of the VIP Lounge at the RIA.

He stated that Boakai was accorded all due respect during the Weah administration, at which time he was only former Vice President. He claimed that President Weah regularly sent him to visit the home of then VP Boakai to ensure that he was okay.

He told the public that former President Weah remains a peaceful leader, and has great respect for the rule of law.

The former Presidential Aide stated that since this government took over the leadership of the country, there has been massive dismissal of innocent Liberians from government ministries and agencies to the extent where people were removed from tenure positions.
