Supporters of the late Bomi County Senator, Lahai Lansana, are reported to be in high gear to elect his widow, Finda Gborie Lansana, in the pending by-election in electoral district #1, Bomi County.
Supporters and other well wishers of the late Senator, who are in their hundreds, disclosed that they are prepared to give the candidate maximum support and encouragement to help her attain the highest votes in the poll, in recognition of her late husband’s contribution to the growth of the county.
In separate statements to welcome the candidate on the tour of the district ahead of the election on November 16, the citizens promised to lead Finda Gborie Lansana’s campaign throughout Senjeh by convincing voters to vote massively in favor of the widow.
One sympathizer said, despite her gender as a woman, Finda Lansana will provide good representation for the district under their guidance and the guidance of her late husband, whom they claim is standing by her in spirit.
He recalled that the late Senator suffered serious humiliation at the hands of enemies of Bomi when he was alive, and that he will never forgive the county if they reject his widow in this crucial election.
Other citizens said they will vote for Finda Lansana to enable her to protect and defend the future of the late Senators’ children, who are presently in her care.
The man who is regarded as an influential elder of Senjeh District recalled that Finda was an obedient wife to their late kinsmen, who deserved the right to replace him in Bomi politics The elder underscored further that forsaking the widow for others who have done nothing to improve the district will not be in the best interest Senjeh’s citizens.
He dismissed the suggestion in some quarters that the candidate is a non-citizen of the district, which he termed as a baseless propaganda by handful of misguided elements who have nothing to offer to the poverty-stricken residents of the district but to discourage them from seeking a good future for their lives.
Contrary to the propaganda, the elder disclosed that Finda, whose mother is a Gola woman, was born and raised in the county.
Similar statements of support for the candidate were issued at the welcoming ceremony in Gbah by a cross-section of citizens of Bomi County, including the student community, religious groups, women and other citizens who mean well for Bomi County.
For her part, Finda Gborie Lansana said she has no doubt that citizens of Senjeh will prefer her in the pending election, and promised to continue the work of her late husband without fear or favor.
She emphasized that Lahai Lansana, nicked named Gba-Gba, was her true love, and that she will do nothing to bring his legacy to public ridicule.
