Liberia-China Friendship Organization Holds Engagement Forum In R-2 Community

To enlighten Liberians nationwide, especially grassroots Liberians, about the Chinese government development agenda and citizens’ empowerment in Liberia, the Liberia-China Friendship Organization (LICFO) over the weekend held an engagement forum with the residents of R-2 Holy City Community in Margibi County.

   The organization, headed by Liberians, aims to publicize fulfilled Chinese government massive development platforms in Liberia, advocate for Liberians to benefit from sundry of opportunities, and so on, from the people of China and the Chinese government. The forum was intended for Liberians to be aware about China’s development imprint in Liberia so that they can debunk anyone who would ill-discuss the Chinese presence in Liberia.

   “What you do not know is older than you; that is the reason we presented a proposal to the Chinese Embassy and they saw the reason for us to go from community to community–to create awareness what the Chinese people and Chinese government are doing in Liberia,” Jerry S. Wonde, Secretary General of LICFO, said during the program. “The help they gave Liberia, so that when you sit somewhere and people are saying the Chinese just plenty in Liberia and doing nothing – tell them China is doing something for Liberia. That is what the whole forum is about.”

   The program, held in the Rescue Ministry in the R-2 Holy City, brought together the community’s leadership, members, well-wishers, journalists, as well as representatives of the organization.

   Secretary Wonde revealed that the next time the team appears in the community it will offer medical treatment to over 100 patients, observing that patients with critical cases will be given prescription to go to JFK for advanced treatment. He continued that there will be scholarship benefit for those who have first degree to do master’s degrees in China.

   Earlier, the R-2 Holy City Community Chairman, Daniel P. Dennis, Jr., welcomed everyone and pledged the community’s full cooperation with LICFO for the Chinese government’s continued support.

    Secretary Wonde mesmerized the grassroots Liberians with the following fulfilled Chinese government developments in Liberia on a displayed projector screen: the construction of the University of Liberia Fendel Campus, Monrovia Vocational Training Center’s modernization, the EJS Ministerial Complex, World Bank-sponsored roads projects from Monrovia to Grand Bassa County, Bong County to Nimba County, and so on.

   He noted that China is progressive in development because the Chinese government is proactive, the country has zero tolerance on corruption, and the implementation of law and order are strict, and do not favor anyone.

   On the other hand, several residents said it was their first time hearing about Chinese government’s numerous development achievement in Liberia and opportunities for Liberians.
