The Lutheran Training Institute (LTI), founded prior to the coming in of the civil war in Liberia, is about to be reopened.
The Lutheran Training Institute (LTI) started as a learning center for students who wanted to be teachers, evangelists or nurses. But the coming in of the bloody conflict led to the closure of LTI operation in Liberia.
Speaking with the Hot Pepper on the reopening of the school, Rev. Eric Doe, Acting Director for Education, Lutheran Church in Liberia, informed this medium that the strategic committee met in May recently at the LTI compound in Salayea to review its pervious strategic documents and find a way forward in reopening LTI. According to Rev. Doe, the just-ended strategic planning workshop developed a five-year working plan to revamp LTI. He said the LTI is expected to open September 2023.
According to him, the strategic planning workshop focused on three thematic areas: secondary learning, vocational education and university.
Previously, LTI offered secondary learning and vocational skills. Its support-base has been its partners and members of the Lutheran church, locally and internationally.
LTI is said to be one of the oldest learning institutions of the Lutheran Church in Liberia. Since the ascendency of Rev. Dr. Victor Padmore as the Presiding Bishop of the Lutheran Church in Liberia, he has decided to revamp every segment of the Lutheran Church in Liberia.
LTI is situated along the Salayea and Zorzor road in Lofa.
