MCC Sets Waste Data Station

The Environmental Manager of the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), Sennay Carlor III, has disclosed that the MCC is working with the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) to set up a waste data station.

Manager Carlor stated that the waste data station is intended to collect the greenhouse gases emission from waste, which will go a long way in providing better understanding as it relates to climate change across the country.

Manager Carlor made the disclosure Wednesday at the launch of the Second State of the Environment Report of Liberia, held at a local hotel in Sinkor.

He noted that the two key documents for environmental planning and management are critical in rolling out preservation and the protection of the environment in Liberia.

According to him, MCC, which deals with the waste management component of the environment, has been challenged over the years for logistical support, except for the little in Monrovia.

Manager Carlor asserted that with these two instruments available, international partners should consider helping MCC with waste equipment to ensure proper disposal of waste across the country.

He emphasized that the protection of the environment is essential for the transformation of the nation, despite the prevailing situation of climate change, sea erosion, forest degradation, among others, which are posing threats to the environment.

He explained that Liberia is committed to fighting against climate change with the assistances from international partners to the relevant agencies of government working along with EPA to minimize the impact of climate change in the country.

Manager Carlor, who represented the City Mayor of Monrovia, Jefferson T Koijee, expressed thanks and appreciation to the management of EPA for the level of achievement so far in battling climate change in Liberia.
