The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) has assured Liberians that major rehabilitation of roads across the country will be implemented this dry season.
According to the Acting Minister of MPW, Ruth Coker-Collins, all preparations and measures are in place to commence rehabilitation and pavement of roads across the nation.
Minister Collins made the disclosure over the weekend when the Emerging Journalists Association of Liberia (EJAL) honored her exemplary leadership at the Ministry in improving road connectivity in the country.
She stated that road connectivity is required across the 15 counties to ensure smooth access of goods and services.
She noted that, with the mandate given to the ministry, every county should have good roads condition, but the budgetary allotment is not enough to effectively execute road connectivity in the 15 counties.
Minister Collins underscored that, despite the budgetary constraint confronting the ministry, road rehabilitation are on-going in various counties to improve accessibility to roads.
She maintained that good road condition is critical for the transformation of the socio-economic development of the nation, and President George Manneh Weah has made road connectivity one of the major priorities of his government.
She asserted that road has a significant role to play in improving the living standard of the people on a daily basis, which has been taken for granted over the years, but the government is concerned about improving roads in the country.
Minister Collins said her team at the ministry expressed thanks and appreciation to President Weah for giving them the opportunity to serve their country in such positions, in order to help transform the developmental drive of Liberia.
