The National Elections Commission (NEC) says its attention has been drawn to statements regarding the October 3, 2022 complaint filed by Senator Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence and others of the Liberty Party (LP).
The Commission assured the parties that have submitted issues of concerns before the commission that these complaints will be addressed in the coming days, in line with its mandate.
“Consistent with the assurances, the commission wishes to restate to all stakeholders and parties its mindfulness in relation to Chapter 2 Section 2.9 (W) of the New Elections Law, which states, ‘To issue citation for the appearance before it of any political party or its leaders, or other natural persons in connection with any complaint cognizable before it.’
“The commission also takes this time to inform the Rainbow Alliance and the People’s Restoration Party, whose respective cases have been pending before the commission prior to Senator Lawrence’s October 3 complaint, that their matters will also be looked into in the coming days,” the NEC said in a press release.
