The President of Liberia, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, is among West African leaders attending the 59th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in Accra’s Kempinski Hotel.
The Liberian Leader is being accompanied at the conference by Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah (Minister of Foreign Affairs), Daniel Dee Zainkahn (Minister of Defense), Julius Ledgerhood Rennie (Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism) and Minister of State Without Portfolio, Trokon Kpui as well as Lenn Eugene Nagbe, Commissioner General, Liberia Maritime Authority.
ECOWAS’ 59th Session got underway early on Saturday morning, June 19, 2021. The opening was addressed by H.E. Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, President of ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana and Chair of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government as well as special guests including the Secretary General of Franchophonie, UN Secretary-General Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel and President of the Africa Development Bank Group.
During the closed-door session, Dr. Weah and his West African counterparts will discuss reports by ECOWAS Chief Malian Mediator, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, ECOWAS single currency, and reforms within the regional body.
The body will choose the venue and date for the 60th Ordinary Session.
