President George Manneh Weah has sent a condolence message to the government and people of the Republic of Zambia following the death of His Excellency, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda, former President of the Republic of Zambia, who died at the age of ninety-seven.
In his condolence message to Zambian President, Edgar Lungu, President Weah, on behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Liberia and in his own name extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family and the government and people of the Republic of Zambia for the irreparable loss of one of Africa’s greatest and finest sons, who championed the spirit of Pan-Africanism, and represented the last of his generation of pioneer freedom fighters in sub-Saharan Africa.
The Liberian leader emphasized that Dr. Kaunda will be remembered for the formidable role he played as the Founding Father of the Republic of Zambia and in consolidating the embodiment of Africa’s struggle against colonialism.
He further noted that the late President will be credited for making Zambia a center for anti-colonial groups fighting to end white minority rule in southern African countries.
President Weah then hoped that the resilience and strength that the people of Zambia have always demonstrated during challenging circumstances will be the symbol of its strength during this difficult period of national morning.
